Ron Harrigan of Structural Insulated Panels System (SIPS) has signed legal papers with the Development Authority of Bainbridge and Decatur County to establish business operations in Decatur County. According to Mr. Harrigan, who has lived in Decatur County since 2000, "We hope to put out the first panel in about 45 days, making panels manually in the DeRose building for now. Our automated plant, which will cover about 70,000 square feet, we hope to have finished about the first of the year. Then we hope to employ 30 to 40 people within two years.
SIPS is a building system that consists of laminated building panels composed of OSB (Oriented Strand Board) which has a core of super-insulating expanded polystyrene (known as EPS).
