Gov. Sonny Perdue
announced Tuesday evening that a window and door manufacturing
company will take over the speculative building in the
Decatur County Industrial Park.
TRACO,
a leading manufacturer of window and door systems whose
products have been used on the Statue of Liberty and
the Empire State Building, will construct a facility
in Bainbridge, creating approximately 300 new jobs within
the next three years, the governor said.
TRACO New Facility Being Built Green
The new TRACO facility in Bainbridge, Georgia is being
built as a Green facility. TRACO has contracted with
a LEED® accredited professional who is advising
on engineering, materials and design. Some of the features
of the TRACO Bainbridge Green facility will include,
virtually no CO2 emissions and a "Green" roofing system
that lowers heat transfer into the facility, producing
less cooling costs and greatly reducing a "heat-island"
effect. Low-E glass is also being used to lower energy
costs and make the working environment more comfortable.
Pollution controlled construction is being utilized
to reduce environmental impact on the jobsite. Fifty
percent of the site, which is in a previous industrial
location, will remain "green" with low or no environmental
impact while retaining native plants and natural landscaping.
Down-lighting will be employed to reduce "light pollution",
along with motion controlled and automatic shutoff features.
The use of recycled materials will be used in many of
the construction phases as well as in-house recycling.
Through TRACO-developed energy modeling software the
annual costs were projected that would be associated
with maintaining the facility and subsequently initiated
leading edge facility management techniques to reduce
maintenance and energy costs while creating a comfortable
quality working environment. TRACO’s other manufacturing
facilities, totaling approximately 2 million square
feet, are located in Cranberry Township, PA (north of
Pittsburgh), Johnson City, TN, Red Oak, IA and Miami,
FL. The company manufactures products for retrofit,
new construction and historic projects utilizing state-of-the-art
systems. TRACO's capabilities include glass laminating,
glass tempering, anodizing, paint finishing, aluminum
extruding and glass insulating. Established in 1943
by Mae and E.R. Randall, TRACO now employs more than
1,800 employees. Memorable landmark projects include,
handcrafting the windows for the crown of the Statue
of Liberty and manufacturing more than 6,000 windows
for the Empire State Building. For more information

The company's annual payroll
for Decatur County is expected to be in excess of $4.5
million.
